About

The 11th International Workshop on Vocabularies, Ontologies and Rules for the Enterprise (VORTE 2022) is devoted to the topics of vocabularies, ontologies and rules in the context of enterprise systems. Examples of topics covered by VORTE include the development and adaptation of foundational, business and domain ontologies for the enterprise, the use of ontologies and rules in all aspects of enterprise modeling such as business process management and services, the enhancement of rules and services with formal semantics, and the evaluation of such systems and approaches.

From the enterprise system development perspective, research topics are focused on relations of process modeling and execution languages with business ontologies and rules, and on how business ontologies and rules used in enterprise models are further propagated into technologies (e.g., linked data and semantic web) and architectures (e.g., service-oriented architectures) that enable collaboration between heterogeneous enterprise systems.

The workshop also welcomes experience reports and empirical studies that are reporting on the use of ontologies and rules in the enterprise system development life-cycle.

Presentation: The Ontology of Trust and the Design of Trustworthy Systems

In a world increasingly reliant on information systems and computing technology, where Artificial Intelligence plays an ever-greater role, concerns of information systems trustworthiness also become more pressing. But how can we make sure a system is trustworthy? In this talk, I argue that developing trustworthy systems requires that we address trustworthiness from the early stages of system development, by eliciting and analyzing trustworthiness requirements. And to enable that, I present an ontology-based approach to requirements engineering. Ontological analysis supports the understanding of what trustworthiness means, by defining it in association with related and well-founded notions. Moreover, following the proposed approach, ontologies are used to guide the requirements analysis in eliciting and analyzing trustworthiness requirements. I illustrate this approach with a case of trustworthiness requirements in a real-world nation-wide instant payment system.

Short biography

Renata Guizzardi is currently an Assistant Professor at the Behavioral, Management and Social Sciences Faculty, (IEBIS group) of the University of Twente, in the Netherlands. Moreover, she is a founding member of the Ontology & Conceptual Modeling Research Group (NEMO) and of the Laboratory of Supporting Technologies for Collaborative Networks (LabTAR), at UFES, Brazil, where she held an Associate Professor position from 2009-2016. Her main research interests include Knowledge Management, Ontologies and Goal-oriented Modeling.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions should describe original research ideas or contributions, present problems or challenges encountered in practice, or report on industrial cases and practices.

All submissions MUST:

conform to the two-column format of IEEE conference proceedings (http://www2.computer.org/portal/web/cscps/formatting);
include the author's name, affiliation, and contact details;
not have been previously published or submitted elsewhere; and
have up 8 pages excluding references.
